The great songs are not the by-product of fashion nor a reflection of passing times. They seem to come from elsewhere, they refine our awareness, emotions and feelings. They are universal. A great song is a text, a piece of music, an interpretation. We remain unable to say which of the three components is the most crucial, as we are in the realm of alchemy.
