Description

1182 BC Ramses III takes to the Egyptian throne. It was during his reign that Medinet-Habu temple was constructed, in a place known as “Djeme hill” where, according to the legend, the god Amon-Rê appeared on the first morning of the world. Ouserkâ, a royal scribe, is assigned the task of transcribing the holy texts in the “eternal resting place” of Ramses III. However, his heart is troubled, as he feels drawn to the religion of the single god Aten, which is nevertheless forbidden. His meeting with the beautiful Raïa, a disciple of Aten accused of heresy, would turn his life upside down. To save the young woman, he would have to confront the intrigues of court. The task was to be complicated yet further as at the same time Queen Thyi and her son Pantaour conspire to assassinate the Pharaoh. These novels immerse us in the opulence of Ancient Egypt, from the jubilee of Ramses III to the Opet festival. We are introduced to its spirituality, through funeral ceremonies celebrating passage into the afterlife and the immortality of the soul. There we discover a world inhabited by gods, where the invisible manifests itself within man and the beauty of landscapes mirroring eternity.
