La Bhagavad-Gîtâ

The Bhagavad-Gita, presented here by Shrî Aurobindo, is a pure jewel of Hinduism. Set against the backdrop of the famous Mahabharata, the legendary epic poem, it constitutes a brief section of seven hundred verses, in the form of a dialogue between prince Arjuna and the knight Krishna. Thanks to the quality of its spiritual teachings, this sublime exchange is even more relevant today, as it raises essential questions about life, action, self-knowledge and God. The Bhagavad-Gita has been discussed by numerous masters and remains one of the fundamental texts of Indian philosophy. This version, with a presentation and commentary by Sri Aurobindo, probably represents one of the best there is, thanks to the western perspective and Sri Aurobindo’s flawless knowledge of Greek, Latin, French, German, Italian and English writers. Furthermore he understands how this oriental text can be made accessible.
