Douze méditations sur l’amour

Ibn Arabi, one of the greatest Sufi masters, is also one of those who best sang of love in all its forms. God creates through love so that he might be known and his creatures are the manifestations of this love. To know God, is to love, and to love, is to enter into His mystery and know him. The mystic path is therefore “that constantly renewed quest for the Other in oneself and for oneself in the Other. It is the spellbinding contemplation of the inherent beauty of the Beloved in the polished mirror of the heart and the endless meditation of its transcendence”. Ibn Arabi here takes us onto the path of love, the intensity and wonder of which he describes through poetry. Be it carnal, spiritual or divine love, he explores its nature, speaking of separation and union, burning desire and ecstasy, the representations of the Beloved and its metamorphoses... This magnificent work contains extensive amounts of colour calligraphy by a master of the art, Lassaad Metoui. To the black of ink, this artist adds the red of passion and the blue of meditation, but his palette is also coloured with the fires of abstract expressionism.
