Description

The “Chemical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz” is an alchemical novel published anonymously in 1616 and viewed as the third Rosicrucian manifesto. It offers the account provided by its hero, a hermit, of seven days over the course of which he attended a royal wedding. Rather than present us with challenging exegesis, Philippe Heckmann has instead chosen to initiate us into this work by means of fiction and to make it accessible by showing us exactly how it concerns modern man. Four characters, Émilie, Ariane, Thomas and Frédéric, all having undertaken an initiatory quest, receive a mysterious invitation. First of all, however, they must read or re-read the “Chemical Wedding”. During the four encounters in symbolic locations, they will be encouraged to reflect, in the company of an initiate, on the meaning of this work which continues to touch both heart and mind, and offer an introduction into operative and spiritual alchemy.
