Alchimie

This work bears a similarity to the articles which the alchemist Eugène Canseliet (1899-1982) dedicated to the leading figures of the history of the arts, science and ideas: Nicolas Flamel, Jollivet-Castelot, Jacques Cœur, Pope Jean XXII, Philéas Lebesgue, Paul Le Cour, Bernard de Clervaux, Dante, Richard Wagner, Joseph de Maistre, Viollet-le-Duc… These alchemical portraits describe — sometimes unsuspected — adherents of the philosophical Magnum Opus and pay tribute to those indefatigable seekers of the stone of the wise. Each article is illustrated with paintings, engravings or photographs of these men committed to the ideal.
