Contrary to certain received ideas, alchemy is not sometimes a material act and sometimes a spiritual or psychic discipline. It is One: in other words, it is the art of working on a living thing, in whatever form it takes. Thus, true alchemical art is the art of transmutation, gradually leading raw material towards a state of perfection. Therefore, every human being, whether aware of it or not, is an alchemist performing the sublimation and elevation of consciousness.
