Le Zohar – Cantiques des Cantiques

The Zohar is one of the major works of the Kabbalah. It is an esoteric and mystic exegesis of the Torah or Pentateuch. This volume offers commentary on the Song of Songs. If in Jewish tradition this text is considered to be the holy of holies among the works of the holy canon, the Zohar on the Song of songs is one of the most beautiful sections of the entire Zohar - maybe the most beautiful. The work develops the theme of love and approaches different variations of it progressing from the human to the divine. Profound and original insights into Hebrew letters and the mystery of the creation make up a substantial part of its content. It is presented as a dialogue between Rabbi Simeon ben Yohaï and the prophet Elijah. The teachings of the Kabbalist tradition which it reveals and groups together often have no equivalent in other strata of the Zohar, which imbues them with a historic and essential doctrinal importance for the understanding of the entire Jewish, esoteric corpus.
